![]() Now that I’m an adult, I’m kind of a professional nerd, and the world has changed a lot. When I was a little boy, people really teased us about that, and made us feel like there was something wrong with us for loving those things. It meant that I loved science, and that I loved playing board games, and reading books, and really understanding what went on in the world instead of just riding the planet through space. That took a lot of effort to appreciate and understand. When I was growing up, being a nerd meant that I liked things that were a little weird. Plus, they usually are jealous of anyone else who can stand on their own feet away from the crowd doing what they like. They are usually very insecure in their own lives & are just trying to make themselves feel better by making someone else miserable. Bullies are more losers than the people they pick on. We just have to develope a thicker skin & learn to deal with them appropriately. The ones making fun of girls who work on cars or play CallOfDuty just don't realize the opportunities they are missing out on, or maybe they are jealous at all the guy friends the more open minded girl has.īullies come in all ages & all social groups sadly. Teen girls can be the most vicious of bullies, they are just more subtle about it than boys. I just ignore them or get rather snide back with them (talent inherited from my mom lol).ĭon't think for a minute that other girls dont make fun of girls who play with action figures or as teens with video games. I usually end up hearing "oh she's going to grow up to be "popular" with the boys" meaning she'll have a slutty (she's FOUR!!!!) reputation or I've had a couple old bags question her sexual orientation (again she's FOUR!!!). That's just it, as her mother I DO hear snide comments about her rough-housing with the boys or playing with "boy toys". I'm not dissing girls, and I am not into Bratz and other stuff intended for girls but I find it unfair that girls can play with stuff like Transformers action figurines and FPS games like Call Of Duty without other girls making fun of them while boys get made fun of for playing with things that are considered for girls.
